Beurre Rouge and Frisbee in February 💕

Valentine’s Day started with the two of us huddled over Tucker’s laptop updating this very website. Because nothing says romance like SEO optimization and adoption outreach, right? 😄

But honestly, that’s kind of us. We do the practical stuff together and somehow still have a good time doing it. And by the evening, we’d swapped the laptop for a frisbee, two very excited dogs, and a dinner reservation downtown.

50° and a frisbee? Let’s go

When it’s 50 degrees in Minneapolis on February 14th, you don’t stay inside. Tucker grabbed the frisbee and we walked down to the elementary school near our house. Kona and Salsa were absolutely thriving. Sprinting laps, stealing the frisbee from each other, doing that thing where they look at you like “throw it again throw it again throw it again.”

It’s one of our favorite spots. The school is close enough that we walk there all the time, and we already picture a kid running around out there with us someday. 🐾

Treasurer duties and beurre rouge duck

We also swung by Northeast United Methodist so I could handle some treasurer stuff. Not the most glamorous Valentine’s activity, but our church community is a huge part of our life and we wouldn’t trade it.

Dinner was at Hell’s Kitchen downtown. Tucker ordered the beurre rouge duck, perfectly crispy outside, ridiculously tender inside. I went with the barbecue ribs because why not?! We shared bites (almost seven years married, that’s just what you do), lit the candle at our table, and settled into one of those dinners where you’re not in a rush to leave.

The kind of day we want more of

Valentine’s Day for us has never been about grand gestures. It’s frisbee before dinner. It’s stopping by church on the way to the restaurant. 💕

We started this adoption journey in 2020. Some days feel long. But days like this one remind us exactly what we’re building toward, and why it’s worth every bit of the wait.
